NON-BUSINESS RELATED AUTOMATION IDEAS
Most of my automation ideas come to me after I realize I've been doing something very inefficiently and I think to myself "There's gotta be a better way" or "This doesn't have to be so hard."
Typically, I share automated solutions for a variety of business-related tasks but today, I want to share some of the automations I use in my personal life to help me juggle all the things that come with being a mom of two kids 6 and under.
Get ready for school reminder
Mornings are HECTIC in our household. Between cooking two different breakfasts for both kids, preparing backpacks, making an insane amount of coffee, feeding the dog, and so much more, it's so easy to lose track of time and make sure we get everyone out the door by 9am.
SO we called in our trusty Alexa device to remind my 6-year-old at 8:20am that it's almost time to get ready for school - if you have a kiddo that struggles with transitions, you know why this is helpful AND we have a second reminder that goes off at 8:30am to let us know that it's time to get ready for school!
These automated reminders have been an absolute game-changer in our morning routine.
What's for dinner reminder
I can't tell you how many times my hubby and I realized that it's already 2pm and we have NOTHING planned for dinner.
We eat dinner at 5pm every night because my youngest goes to sleep by 6pm and for some reason, it takes my 6-year-old 2 hours to finish his dinner 🫠
So we implemented an automated reminder that goes off every night at 9pm so we can plan dinner for the following night AND cut down on our Uber Eats expenses.
Living room reset reminder
Every night at 6:30pm, our trusty Alexa will remind my hubby and 6-year-old to tidy up and reset the living room while I am putting my 2-year-old to bed. It's such a simple reminder but trust me when I say, this has saved a lot of arguments between me and my husband LOL.
I hope this gives you some ideas for creating simple automated solutions in your personal life, because who says automations are only limited to business tasks?
Now I just need to find a way to automate cleaning my husband's facial hair on the sink after he shaves 😅
